Friday 28th January 2011, Colston Hall, Bristol

This was the 7th annual Slapstick Festival in Bristol and the Gala night on the Friday is always a sell-out.

This year’s event was superb. We were treated to four films, each introduced by one of the evening’s guests. We saw Harold Lloyd in ‘Get out and get under’, Charlie Chaplin in ‘One a.m.’, Laurel and Hardy in ‘We Faw Down’ and lastly Buster Keaton in ‘Neighbors’.

The films were accompanied by live music from European Silent Screen Virtuosi and from Jazz Train, an excellent group of young German musicians.

Half way through this fantastic evening, Paul took to the stage to sing ‘Eternally’. This song is the theme tune to Charlie Chaplin’s film ‘Limelight’.

He sang beautifully.

This is a very moving song and to hear it sung by Paul to such an appreciative audience was wonderful. A very special moment in a fun-filled evening.
